The Conestoga Language Institute offers an English for Academic Studies program designed for students who want to acquire English language skills for entry into post-secondary programs at Conestoga College or other Canadian colleges or universities. Conestoga College's four-level, intensive academic program in English language studies focuses on the listening, speaking, reading and writing skills required for post-secondary studies in English. Level 1 is designed for students with little or no knowledge of English. Students who begin Level 1 and intend to pursue further academic studies should plan to take a minimum of four semesters (four months per semester). Levels 2, 3 and 4 are intended for students who have previously studied English. Progression from one level to the next is based on academic performance. Most students spend one semester (four months) in each level. Students are placed into the appropriate language level by providing a TOEFL/TWE or IELTS test results or by taking the Conestoga College in-house English placement test. Upon successful completion of Level 4 students will have achieved the English requirement for enrolling in most post-secondary programs at Conestoga College. Students may begin the ESL/English Language Studies Program in January, February, May, June, September or October. Conestoga also offers an 8-week Intensive English Language for Academic Studies Program in July. Applicants must provide a TOEFL score of 507/180, TWE 4; or IELTS 5.5 to gain admission into this program. ![]() Cursussen
